In “MEDITERRANOVA” we will find songs which are a tribute to such important moments as those lived in the 70’s with it’s fusion which taught us so much; to the already legendary “Whisky Jazz” club in Madrid, I lived moments filled with music there; to the 80’s soft jazz, so optimistic and full of life; to the Mediterranean music of the 80’s and 90’s, being a mediterranean as I am; to all new music in general; also to those moments lived this year, in March 2004; to my marvelous basses; to situations such as leaving home and returning to it a long time afterwards; to that feeling of dying a little with every trip you make and changing habits; to the marvelous world of children’s fantasies and dreams in their joy of merely existing and living just because, to feelings, fantasies and encouragements that in this life one has to give oneself if you want to continue being a little happy, as someone once said somewhere “Music... ... what a beautiful form of art, but what a horrible profession” and even so I think I reflect my great love of music and the important moments of indescribable happiness which it has allowed me to experience; I hope you will be able to fly and feel with these sincere songs, and if possible, feel peace and love as you listen to them, thank you form this very moment, for listening to me.

Dedication

This is an instrumental project dedicated, in first place to my mother (Cenizas / Ashes) who, unfortunately, left us when this hadn’t been finished, but who was the biggest strength which led me to carry it out; to my two sisters, Poly and Marisol, who have always supported me; to my father who taught me the right path in music with his good taste, being in the cot listening to jazz gives you a lot of Groove; to the Mediterranean, a sea which leaves a stamp in you, defines and inspires, and especially Mallorca and its people, which have been like a home away from home to me; to those great musicians who have inspired me a whole lifetime: Ron Carter, Herbie Hanckok, Scott La Faro, Marcus Miller, Beach Boys with their “Pet Sounds”, Miles Davis, Burt Bacharach, Michel Colombier “Wings” (intro and outro loop in “Bass Rap” from “Autumn Land” 1979 “Michel Colombier” Chrysalis Records), Paul McCartney “The Bass Player” and my road and dream buddies Joan Bibiloni, JosÈ Mas Kitflus, Tito Duarte (RIP), thank you for your inspiration, I learnt so much being with you; and, why not, to those loves who gave me so much even when I didn’t know what to do with it, I owe you more than one note; life is a heap full of feelings and many times, these become melodies, and love, good or bad, leaves us with so much and forever, thank you.

“Thank you's”

Thank you Hugo Westerdall and his studio “Axis” in Madrid, thanks to him this whole project began to develop; to Cristian Costantini and Nando Gonz·lez; the mediterraneans, I owe them a lot of inspiration and motivation; to RubÈn Rebollada for his drive at the very beginning of this project; to Carlos Torres, and his friendship and brotherhood; the musicians who have participated in this my first project, contributing to it with their talent and love towards music and their friendship, you are all excellent musicians and people, thank you for your support. Thank you to Joan Bibiloni, Javier Gurruchaga, Hevia, Cristina Del Valle, Amistades Peligrosas, Javier Vargas, Ana BelÈn, Victor Manuel, Miguel RÌos, Inma Serrano, Jayme Marques, Isla San Juan, Marc Antoine, Max SuÒe, JosÈ Mas “Kitflus” etc… … for trusting me in those moments with so much affection. Thanks to “Moon” Japan for such wonderfull basses, to “Roland” for its “Virtual Bass”; to Roger “Sadowsky” for his works of art on his basses, and now also for his strings (it had to be Sadowsky); to “Warwick”, already an institution in the bass world, for their faith in us bassists, the love they put into their creations, and their unconditional help when I have needed it.

Special thanks to Minin, Margarita and Miquel, the “Figuerola’s”, my Mallorca family, David and Xisco Balaguer for their good vibrations and sincere friendship. Thanks to Miquel ¡ngel Sancho in “Blau”, Mallorca, for his good advice,

Thanks to Juan Antonio Romero Estepa for his design and selfless help on my web page, created and directed by him as Webmaster, thanks.

Thanks to all of those who have helped me be the “Count Duke of Avocado” or as Hevia says “the Slap Dandy”, to SerafÌn Cardos, Pablo L·zaro, Sara Marrero and Luis ValdÈs from “Luis and Tachi” for your styling and pampering for so many years, you are the best. Thanks to radio programs like Jorge Flo’s “M·sica Privada”, to Rafa Fuentes from “Jazztamos AquÌ”, to RamÛn Trecet “Dialogos 3”, and Antonio Fern·ndez’s “Area Reservada” with them I listen to music, enjoy and learn.

And special thanks to my big family at “Indigo Records”, my record company, in particular to Juan Miguel Ramirez for believing in my project and in me; to Peer Music for their support in this project eternally thanks, specially to Rafael Aguilar and Eva SantamarÌa.

I hope I will be able to play all these songs to that audience I know exists and I have, that would be complete happiness, to feel the connection between you and us the musicians: what would we do without you?! Who would we create for ?! We need each other, so see you soon, sincerely.
